WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump will campaign next week in Oklahoma and Alabama, two states he won overwhelmingly in 2024, as Republicans prepare for a difficult final stretch before the November midterms.
Trump is scheduled to hold a rally Thursday in Durant, Oklahoma, followed by a Friday event in Mobile, Alabama. He carried Oklahoma by roughly 34 percentage points and Alabama by about 30 points in 2024, while the Senate and gubernatorial contests in both states are considered safely Republican.
The appearances come as the national political environment has grown more challenging for the GOP. The Cook Political Report shifted several Senate races toward Democrats this week, moving Kansas from Likely Republican to Lean Republican and South Carolina from Solid Republican to Likely Republican.
Trump has said he plans to visit dozens of campaign locations during the final month before Election Day, including more competitive states.
His standing has also weakened nationally. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released this week put Trump’s job approval at 32%, a career low in that survey, with dissatisfaction over living costs and the Iran war contributing to the decline. Republicans still view Trump as an important tool for motivating their base, particularly in a midterm election where turnout can be decisive.
