Former President Donald Trump expressed support for modifying the 25th Amendment to allow for the removal of a vice president who “lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the president’s incapacity.” Speaking at a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, Trump suggested that such actions should lead to immediate impeachment and removal from office.

Trump’s remarks follow Republican accusations that Vice President Kamala Harris is hiding concerns about President Biden’s mental state after a poor debate performance. Some Republicans, including Speaker Mike Johnson, have suggested using the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from office.

Amending the Constitution requires approval from three-fourths of state legislatures, a challenging process. Trump, who was impeached twice but acquitted both times in the Senate, continues to criticize Biden and the Democratic Party as he navigates the 2024 race.
