WASHINGTON, DC — President Donald Trump lashed out Thursday on Truth Social, accusing former President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice of running a politically motivated investigation through the FBI’s “Arctic Frost” probe. The comments came after newly released documents showed nearly 160 Republican figures were investigated for alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump’s full Truth Social post read:
“He is a CRIMINAL AND SHOULD BE IN JAIL. A MAJOR LOWLIFE AND FAILURE. An ugly person, both inside and out! I beat him badly, and love watching him squirm now.”
The post was made in response to an article from Just the News, a conservative outlet, claiming the probe unjustly targeted Trump allies. The FBI documents, first reported by Axios, show that investigators opened the case in 2022 based on “specific and articulable facts” suggesting potential crimes involving false elector certificates and efforts to pressure former Vice President Mike Pence during the 2020 certification process.
Republicans, including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), called the investigation an abuse of power, alleging that Arctic Frost agents tracked the communications of GOP senators. DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith later closed the case following the Supreme Court’s ruling granting presidents immunity for official acts.
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has since demanded Smith testify about what he calls “constitutional abuses” within the Biden Justice Department.
