President Donald Trump engaged in a tense exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during an Oval Office meeting on Friday, at one point raising his voice and calling the foreign leader “disrespectful.”
The conversation grew heated after Vice President J.D. Vance challenged Zelensky’s approach to U.S. support, questioning Ukraine’s manpower issues and military strategy.
“I think it’s disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to litigate this in front of the American media,” Vance said. “You should be thanking the president for trying to end this conflict instead of forcing conscripts to the front lines.”
Zelensky responded by suggesting that while the U.S. had not yet felt the war’s impact, it would in the future. That remark set off Trump.
“Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel because you’re in no position to dictate that,” Trump fired back. “We’re going to feel very good and very strong. You’re not in a very good position right now.”
