A shooting at a Walmart store in Chesapeake, Virginia, left multiple people dead and others injured on Tuesday night, police said.

When asked how many people were fatally shot, Kosinski replied that police believed “it’s less than 10.”Kosinski said police received reports of a shooting at 10:12pm and the number of fatalities and injuries was not immediately clear. Police did not immediately name the suspect.

“We believe there’s only one shooter, so we’re not really looking for another shooter, but we’re prepared if there is one. … But we’re also looking for more victims because people could be scared, they could be hiding,” Kosinski said as police searched the large store just before midnight.

There have been more than 600 mass shootings in the U.S. this year, according to Gun Violence Archive — which defines a mass shooting as having at least four people injured or killed, not including the shooter.
