The Senate voted to pass a bill that could either ban TikTok or force its parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app within a year. The bill, which passed with 79 votes in favor and 18 against, will now go to President Biden, who has indicated he will sign it.

The bill’s passage marks the climax of a long-standing political dispute over TikTok, which has faced accusations of collecting sensitive user data and censoring content. Despite these concerns leading to bans in various locations, TikTok continues to deny these claims.
