Senate Democrats introduced an online portal for whistleblowers to report government wrongdoing, responding to President Donald Trump’s sweeping actions affecting federal agencies. In a public letter, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Gary Peters urged civil servants to report abuses of power, threats to public safety, fraud, and other misconduct.
The portal requires users to provide their name, organization, and details of their complaint. Schumer and Peters emphasized that whistleblowers play a crucial role in exposing government fraud and abuse.
Since taking office, Trump has made controversial changes, including restricting birthright citizenship, withholding congressional funds, and removing independent agency heads. These moves have led to numerous lawsuits challenging his actions on immigration, federal workforce protections, and the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk. With Republicans controlling Congress, Democrats have few options to counter Trump’s initiatives.
