In a recent interview, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley avoided questions about whether the 2020 election was stolen, focusing instead on ensuring election integrity in the current cycle. When asked about reports that the RNC was questioning potential rehires about the legitimacy of the 2020 election, Whatley emphasized his litmus test was support for President Trump and the Republican nominees and dedication to winning the current election cycle.
Whatley acknowledged there were irregularities and issues in the 2020 election and stressed the need for election integrity and clear rules for 2024. He also pointed to his vote for Trump in the Electoral College when asked about the accuracy of the 2020 vote count.
Whatley, endorsed by Trump and elected as part of a radical overhaul by Trump and his allies, has made election integrity a key focus of his role. He assured that the committee would be present when early votes are cast and counted in November.
