Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly described former President Trump as a “terrible human being” and the “worst president ever” in a recent text exchange, according to The New Yorker. Kennedy allegedly called Trump “probably a sociopath” but considered President Biden “more dangerous to the Republic and the planet.”
Kennedy and Trump had a phone call before the Republican National Convention, with Trump agreeing with some of Kennedy’s vaccine stances and expressing hope that Kennedy would “do something” beneficial. Kennedy apologized for the leaked call.
Kennedy’s campaign director, Amaryllis Fox, mentioned that Trump’s team asked Kennedy about a possible role in the administration, such as leading the Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy also indicated openness to serving in Vice President Harris’s administration if elected.
Despite his campaign, Kennedy struggles to gain significant ground, polling at 4.2 percent compared to Harris’s 45.9 percent and Trump’s 44.4 percent. Kennedy acknowledged the unlikely odds of winning the presidency, inspired by Trump’s 2016 victory to expand his political ambitions.
