Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stated on Friday that he “won’t take sides” on the truth of the 9/11 attacks but promises transparency if elected. Kennedy expressed skepticism about the government’s honesty, saying, “conspiracy theories flourish when the government routinely lies to the public.”

Kennedy referenced a recent CBS “60 Minutes” segment discussing alleged Saudi involvement in the attacks, noting his commitment to open government files and promote transparency. While the federal investigation concluded that al Qaeda acted alone, some have speculated about Saudi complicity, and 9/11 victims’ families have sought more information.

Kennedy has previously voiced controversial views on 9/11 and other conspiracy theories, including questioning the collapse of 7 World Trade Center. He clarified that he does not endorse specific theories but remains critical of the official account.

Kennedy’s campaign has been marked by contentious statements, including linking Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people to COVID-19 origins and alleging CIA involvement in his uncle’s assassination. Despite his low polling average of about 8 percent, he continues to gather support and aims to be on the ballot nationwide. Many Kennedy family members oppose his candidacy, supporting President Biden instead.
