Green Party Presidential Candidate Dr. Jill Stein was among approximately 80 individuals arrested during a protest at Washington University in St. Louis. The demonstration followed the arrest and suspension of students at a sit-in protest the previous weekend.

Hundreds of protesters moved from the university campus to the St. Louis County jail, where Stein and others were detained. Stein, who was booked at 7:26 pm and released at 1:30 am, faces assault charges.

The university stated that all arrested individuals would be charged with trespassing, with some potentially facing additional charges for resisting arrest and assaulting university officers. Stein, however, claims she was assaulted by an officer.

The protest was led by Resist WashU, a collective demanding the university cut ties with Boeing Co., boycott Israeli educational institutions, drop charges against protesters, return all land to indigenous communities, and condemn Palestinian genocide. The group vowed to maintain their encampment until their demands are met.
