A CNN poll released Wednesday found that 56% of respondents disapprove of President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy, while 44% approve. The results closely mirror Trump’s overall job approval rating, with 54% disapproving and 45% approving of his presidency.
Support for Trump’s economic policies remains strong among Republicans and 2024 Trump voters, though slightly lower than his general approval. Among Republicans, 92% approve of his presidency, while 88% support his economic policies. Similarly, 91% of 2024 Trump voters back his presidency, but 87% approve of his economic handling.
The survey comes as Trump faces criticism over tariff policies and a declining stock market, with concerns about a potential recession. In a Fox News interview, Trump acknowledged a “period of transition” but insisted his economic policies would ultimately benefit the country.
The poll, conducted March 6-9, surveyed 1,206 respondents with a margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
