Nikki Haley, the Republican presidential candidate, has reaffirmed her commitment to her campaign, asserting her resolve not to withdraw even after the upcoming South Carolina primary, where she is anticipated to trail significantly behind former President Donald Trump. In a speech delivered in Greenville, South Carolina, Haley emphasized the principle that “we don’t anoint kings in this country,” directly challenging the pressure to concede from Trump’s camp and his commanding lead in national polls. She criticized Trump for his divisiveness and for being out of touch, while also distancing herself from being a “Never Trumper” by acknowledging her disagreements with both Trump and President Joe Biden.
Despite facing considerable odds, with polls showing her trailing Trump by a wide margin, Haley argued against the notion of stepping down for political expediency. Instead, she highlighted her campaign’s focus on states voting on “Super Tuesday” and in Georgia, signaling a strategy aimed at appealing to her core base of well-educated suburban voters.
