GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley is taking advantage of former President Donald Trump’s threats against her campaign. On his Truth Social platform, Trump warned that anyone who donates to Haley’s campaign will be “permanently barred from the MAGA camp,” which is a reference to his 2016 campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”

In response, Haley, who previously served as the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. under Trump, turned these words into a fundraising opportunity. She promoted T-shirts with the phrase “Barred. Permanently” on them for a $5 donation. She encouraged supporters to purchase the merchandise in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Trump defeated Haley in the New Hampshire primary with an 11-point margin. Despite his win, Trump continued to attack Haley during his victory speech, criticizing her appearance and speech at the primary.

In the midst of this, Sarah Matthews, a former Trump staffer who left his administration after the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, publicly supported Haley. Matthews, who testified before the House Jan. 6 panel, donated to Haley’s campaign, encouraging others to do the same.

Trump’s initial post included a critique of political donor behavior, stating that those who support “Birdbrain” – his nickname for Haley – would be rejected by his MAGA movement. He emphasized his commitment to “America First” principles, stating that such donors would not be welcomed.
