Nikki Haley wants an on-the-record vote by Republican National Committee members on a draft resolution that would limit the party’s spending on legal fees, including those of Donald Trump. She is concerned that RNC support might shift from down-ballot Republicans to a “legal slush fund.” Henry Barbour has proposed two resolutions to prevent the RNC from coordinating with a candidate until the delegate threshold is met and to prohibit the committee from paying any candidate’s legal fees.

Haley avoided answering a question about whether having leadership teams announced in states past Super Tuesday meant that she could guarantee staying in until that point. She believes the conversation should focus on the country’s direction. Haley applauded Mitch McConnell’s decision to step down from his leadership position, saying that Congress needs new generational change.
