Protesters nationwide are preparing for large-scale demonstrations over Labor Day weekend in opposition to President Donald Trump’s agenda, alongside traditional worker-focused events.
The group May Day Strong, which is coordinating marches, rallies, picnics, and church gatherings in all 50 states, said Friday that more than 1,000 “Workers Over Billionaires” events have been confirmed, with several hundred thousand people expected to attend.
Organizers are framing this year’s Labor Day as a counter to Trump’s newly enacted One Big Beautiful Bill tax cuts, his administration’s immigration crackdown, and the federalized crime-control operation in Washington, D.C., which may expand to other cities like Chicago and Baltimore.
“This year Labor Day is more than a barbecue,” May Day Strong said. A “DC Freedom Run” through the capital will also be held, with organizers inviting those unable to participate due to immigration status to send symbolic items for runners to wear.
Indivisible, which organized June’s “No Kings” protest against Trump’s military parade, will join Monday’s demonstrations.
