Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) addressed reports over the weekend that her eldest son, Tyler Boebert, was cited for alleged misdemeanor child abuse involving her grandson. According to Windsor, Colorado, police, the 20-year-old was charged with criminal negligence related to an incident on July 11, though no injury or death occurred.

Boebert, 38, said the incident stemmed from a “miscommunication” regarding monitoring her grandson. “Tyler has been doing a great job getting his life on track,” she told People. “I am confident this is a one-time incident that we have addressed as a family.”

The case marks the latest legal issue involving Tyler. In October 2024, he pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft after being linked to car theft and stolen credit card use. In 2022, he rolled an SUV, injuring a passenger, though charges were reduced through a plea deal.

Tyler became a father in 2023, making Boebert a grandmother during her second term in Congress. Despite the citation, no further public details about the July incident have been released by police.
