The latest NBC News poll reveals independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is attracting more Trump voters than Biden’s. In a direct Trump-Biden matchup, Trump leads by 2%. However, when expanded to five candidates, Biden leads by 2%, with Kennedy securing 13%.
The poll shows 15% of Trump voters switch to Kennedy in the five-way ballot, compared to 7% of Biden voters. Republican voters view Kennedy more favorably than Democrats do. Jeff Horwitt, the Democratic pollster, noted, “[Kennedy’s] appeal looks to be more with Trump than Biden voters.”
These findings contrast with other national polls suggesting a larger third-party vote hurts Biden more. GOP pollster Bill McInturff stated the results are “different than other surveys,” suggesting it could be an outlier or a sign of future trends.
The Biden campaign is actively working to draw support away from Kennedy, with Biden recently hosting an event with Kennedy family members endorsing him. The party is focusing more on Kennedy than past third-party candidates, launching new super PACs and a DNC arm to counter his influence.
