Ralph Celentano, a 56-year-old New York resident, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for his role in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots. District Judge Timothy Kelly condemned Celentano’s actions as “disgraceful” and “cowardly,” especially his attack on a law enforcement officer, as reported by NBC News.
Celentano, arrested in 2022, faced multiple misdemeanor and felony charges, including assaulting law enforcement officers. Celentano executed a “football style tackle” on an officer, causing the officer to flip over a ledge and fall onto other officers below.
The prosecution had sought a 135-month sentence, along with three years of supervised release, $2,000 in restitution, and a $300 special assessment. The sentencing memo highlighted Celentano’s violent character and disrespect for law enforcement, advocating for a substantial incarceration period.
