An Idaho woman, Teresa Borrenpohl, was forcibly removed from a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee town hall after an alleged disruption. Video of the incident showed Borrenpohl questioning event moderators before Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris ordered her removal. Three unidentified men in black forcibly dragged her out as she repeatedly asked for their identities.
The committee stated Borrenpohl was removed for repeatedly interrupting and was handled by “licensed and bonded professional security.” Chairman Brent Regan accused her of a history of disruptions and claimed she was later cited for trespassing and battery.
Borrenpohl denounced the removal as a violation of her free speech, and Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea criticized the handling of dissenting voices. Attendees reported a charged atmosphere where only some were reprimanded. A GoFundMe for Borrenpohl’s legal costs has raised over $94,000.
