The House approved a $95 billion aid package, with funds for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Despite bipartisan support, 112 Republicans opposed Ukraine aid, and 37 Democrats voted against Israel aid.

The package includes a bill for sanctions against China, Iran, and Russia, and a mandate for TikTok to divest from its Chinese parent. President Biden, acknowledging the urgency of the situation in Israel and Ukraine, urged the Senate for swift approval.

The bills mirror a stalled Senate package. Speaker Mike Johnson split the aid into separate bills, allowing members to vote individually. Johnson stated, “Our process… ensured that each member was able to consider the individual supplemental elements on their own merits”.

Before the vote, Rep. Michael McCaul warned, “History will judge us by our actions here today. The world is watching. Our adversaries are watching”.
