Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump said Saturday he is considering replacing a planned America 250 celebration concert with an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally after most scheduled performers withdrew from the event.
The Great American State Fair was scheduled to run from June 25 through July 10 as part of Freedom 250 festivities marking the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence. However, several performers announced they would no longer participate after concluding the event had become politically charged.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized the departing artists and suggested he could take their place by delivering a speech and rally at the same venue.
“I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,” Trump wrote, claiming he draws larger crowds than Elvis Presley did during his prime. He described the departing entertainers as “Third Rate Artists” and directed aides to explore the feasibility of holding a rally instead.
Country music star Martina McBride, who had been scheduled to perform on opening night, said she withdrew after learning details about the event that differed from what she was originally told. Rapper Young MC also announced his departure, citing concerns that the event was associated with Trump despite being promoted as nonpartisan.
As of Saturday, rapper Vanilla Ice remained one of the few confirmed performers. He defended the celebration, describing it as a patriotic event rather than a political gathering.
Freedom 250 was created by the Trump administration to complement the broader America 250 initiative established to commemorate the nation’s founding.
