During a Thursday night campaign event with Oprah Winfrey, Vice President Kamala Harris remarked that if someone broke into her home, “they’re getting shot,” a statement she laughed off, adding, “I probably should not have said that.” This came in response to Winfrey mentioning her own gun ownership. Harris, who has previously confirmed she is a gun owner, reiterated her stance during the conversation.

Harris’s comments followed a discussion on gun violence prevention, where she reaffirmed her support for the Second Amendment while advocating for measures such as an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, and red flag laws. The event also included testimony from a survivor of the recent Apalachee High School shooting in Georgia, where a 14-year-old killed four people.
