At a Las Vegas rally on Saturday, Vice President Kamala Harris suggested she would support ending taxes on tipping, a policy also championed by former President Trump. This proposal, aimed at exempting tip income from federal income and payroll taxes, has been part of Trump’s appeal to working-class voters.

Harris, endorsed by Culinary Union 226, which represents 60,000 workers in Las Vegas and Reno, promised to fight for working families, including raising the minimum wage and eliminating taxes on tips for service workers. Trump’s similar proposal in June indicated a potential loss of up to $250 billion in federal revenue over a decade.

Trump criticized Harris on Truth Social, accusing her of copying his policy for political gain. Changes to tipped income taxation would require Congressional approval.
