As the Jeffrey Epstein case continues to dominate political conversations in Washington, Ghislaine Maxwell’s family is arguing she did not receive a fair trial. Maxwell, convicted in 2021 on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges for her role in helping Epstein exploit minors, is serving a 20-year sentence in Florida.

In a statement Tuesday, her family said she was unfairly prosecuted and noted that her legal team had petitioned the Supreme Court earlier this year. The petition contends that a non-prosecution agreement Epstein struck with federal prosecutors in Florida should have shielded her from criminal charges. The Justice Department rejected that claim Monday, saying the agreement applied solely to Epstein and local charges, not to Maxwell or broader federal offenses.

Maxwell’s attorney, David Oscar Markus, invoked Donald Trump, arguing, “I’d be surprised if President Trump knew his lawyers were asking the Supreme Court to let the government break a deal… He’s the ultimate dealmaker.”

The case has intensified amid MAGA-aligned frustration with the administration’s handling of the Epstein investigation. On Wednesday, Trump called the controversy the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” and condemned “PAST supporters” for dwelling on it.

Adding to the political tension, federal prosecutor Maurene Comey—daughter of former FBI Director James Comey—was reportedly fired Wednesday. Trump has accused her and other figures, including Presidents Obama and Biden, of fabricating documents related to the case, without evidence.
