The Gaza Health Ministry announced a death toll exceeding 25,000 Palestinians in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Israeli aims to dismantle Hamas and rescue hostages have yet to be achieved, with the conflict expected to continue.

Divisions within Israel are growing, alongside international concerns of wider regional involvement. The United States supports Israel but has had limited success in moderating Israel’s military strategies and promoting humanitarian aid. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has rejected suggestions for a Palestinian statehood plan post-conflict.

The conflict escalated after Hamas’ attack in Israel on October 7, leading to Israeli air strikes and ground operations in Gaza. Despite evacuation orders, many Palestinians remain in high-risk areas.

The reported casualties include 25,105 deaths and 62,681 injuries in Gaza, predominantly women and minors. Israel claims to have killed approximately 9,000 militants, though this has not been independently verified, and reports 195 military fatalities.

About 85% of Gaza’s population is displaced, with severe food shortages affecting a significant portion. Hostage rescue efforts are complicated, with some Israeli officials suggesting a ceasefire might be necessary for success. Public pressure in Israel is mounting for government accountability and potential new elections, while right-wing coalition members urge for more aggressive military action.
