Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard claimed she has declassified documents proving former President Barack Obama’s officials “manufactured” intelligence to support the FBI’s 2016 Russia investigation. Gabbard referred the materials to the Department of Justice for potential prosecution.

“There must be indictments for those responsible,” Gabbard told Fox News, calling the actions a “treasonous conspiracy.” She added, “I’m not a lawyer. In my view, we have the evidence to move forward.”

But her claims contradict prior findings. A 2020 bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report upheld the intelligence community’s original assessment of Russia’s 2016 election interference and found no politicization of the evidence.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) called Gabbard’s rhetoric “dangerous,” warning that invoking terms like “treason” could incite violence. He emphasized the intelligence community’s integrity and said her actions lack legal basis.
