WASHINGTON, DC — A new Fox News poll shows Democrats holding a slight advantage over Republicans on economic issues, marking the first time since 2010 that the party has led on what is typically a core GOP strength.
The survey found 52% of respondents believe Democrats would handle the economy better, compared to 48% who favor Republicans. The shift follows years of Republican dominance on the issue, including double-digit leads as recently as 2022 and 2023.
Economic concerns remain the top priority for voters. About 26% cited inflation, prices, and cost of living as the most important issue facing the country, while another 17% pointed to jobs and broader economic conditions.
At the same time, Republicans continue to lead on other issues, including border security, crime, immigration, and national security.
The poll also reflects broader dissatisfaction with current economic conditions. Only 34% of respondents approved of President Donald Trump’s handling of the economy, while 66% disapproved. Inflation rose to 3.3% in March, alongside a spike in energy costs tied in part to tensions involving Iran and disruptions in global shipping routes.
