Today marks the voter registration deadline in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state, and Elon Musk is making headlines with a controversial financial giveaway tied to voter registration. Musk, who has already contributed at least $70 million to support Donald Trump’s campaign, is now offering a $1 million daily prize to registered voters who sign a petition launched by his political action committee (PAC).

At a recent rally, Musk announced the giveaway, stating that the petition supports the U.S. Constitution, including free speech and gun rights. Previously, he offered smaller cash prizes for voter referrals in seven battleground states, but his latest effort is raising questions about legality.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed concerns over the legality of Musk’s financial involvement, citing worries about “dark money” influencing voters. Brendan Fischer, a campaign finance expert, highlighted potential legal violations, explaining that Musk may be “conditioning payments” on voter registration, which could be illegal.

Musk has already issued two $1 million checks, with one recipient praising his efforts. However, critics like Fischer warn that this could be a troubling new trend where billionaires directly influence voters through financial incentives.
