Elon Musk faced intense criticism after a tweet in response to an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, where he remarked, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” accompanied by a thinking-face emoji. The comment came after a second attempt on Trump’s life, this time at his Florida golf club. Musk, who supports Trump’s 2024 campaign, quickly deleted the tweet after a wave of backlash, with many accusing him of stoking division and inflaming tensions.
Musk later explained, “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context,” but this defense did little to calm critics. Commenters, including political figures and social media users, called his comment dangerous, with some suggesting law enforcement should investigate.
