David Hogg’s group, Leaders We Deserve, announced a $20 million campaign Monday aimed at electing a new generation of Democrats by launching primary challenges against incumbents in safe House districts.

The group, which endorses state legislative candidates under 30 and federal candidates under 35, will focus on replacing ineffective leadership rather than challenging Democrats in competitive seats.

“We’re not only focused on targeting Democratic incumbents when necessary,” Hogg told The Hill, adding that the effort supports candidates aligned with the group’s values who are “ready to meet the moment.”

The initiative follows a $12 million spending push during the 2024 cycle. Hogg emphasized issues such as gun violence, climate change, and student debt as motivating the push for younger, more responsive leadership.

While stressing the campaign isn’t targeting figures like Reps. Jan Schakowsky or Nancy Pelosi, Hogg said incumbents who have failed to effectively challenge Trump’s agenda could face primary opposition.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene responded by urging focus on swing districts key to regaining the House majority.
