Cracker Barrel announced Tuesday it will return to its classic logo featuring the “Old Timer” leaning on a barrel, after a rebranding effort sparked public backlash and criticism from President Donald Trump.
“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel,” the company said in a statement. “Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain.”
The logo change, introduced last week under CEO Julie Felss Masino, replaced the old man and barrel with a simplified yellow image. Trump strongly opposed the shift, calling on the company to revert and claiming the controversy was worth a “Billion Dollars of free publicity.” After Cracker Barrel’s decision, he congratulated the chain, urging it to “make your customers happy again.”
The reversal drew bipartisan agreement, with even the Democratic Party posting online: “We think the Cracker Barrel rebrand sucks too.” Shares of the restaurant chain closed up 6% Tuesday following the announcement.
