President Biden criticized former President Trump on Thursday for spreading false claims about the federal response to recent hurricanes. During his remarks at the White House, Biden specifically addressed misinformation surrounding Hurricane Milton, saying, “Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life man, help these people.”
When asked if he had spoken to Trump directly about the misinformation, Biden responded, “Are you kidding me?” He added that the public and the press would hold Trump accountable, emphasizing, “You know the truth.”
Biden also refuted a claim by Trump that those affected by the storm were only receiving $750 in government assistance. “That’s bizarre… They’re being so damn un-American with how they’re talking about this stuff,” Biden said.
The president has urged Trump and his allies, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), to stop spreading misinformation following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Milton, which made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast late Wednesday, caused flooding and widespread power outages across the state.
