Argentina’s President Javier Milei is likely to attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, according to an Argentine diplomatic official, though it has not been publicly confirmed. Bloomberg News first reported Milei’s potential attendance, citing an Argentine government spokesperson.

Milei, a self-described “anarcho-capitalist” and Trump supporter, posted on X: “Make Argentina Great Again Make America Great Again,” accompanied by emojis of both nations’ flags.

Milei would be the first world leader expected at the January 20 event, though more may join. Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who Trump invited, is unlikely to attend, per sources. Trump confirmed exchanging letters with Xi but said no decision had been made. He also noted he had not invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Historically, world leaders do not attend U.S. inaugurations, with ambassadors and spouses traditionally representing foreign governments. Milei previously met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago after the November election.
