Jasmine Mooney, a Canadian actress known for her role in American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009), spent nearly two weeks in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center after being detained at the Mexican border earlier this month.

Mooney, whose U.S. work visa was revoked in November 2024, attempted to re-enter the U.S. through San Ysidro, Mexico with proof of a new job offer and a visa application. Instead, she was arrested by immigration officials and placed under harsh conditions.

  • “I was put in a cell, and I had to sleep on a mat with no blanket, no pillow, with an aluminum foil wrapped over my body like a dead body for two and a half days,” Mooney told ABC 10 News.
  • She was later transferred to a detention center in Arizona, where she spent 24 hours wrapped in chains.

After two weeks in ICE custody, Mooney was sent back to Canada on Saturday without a clear explanation for her prolonged detention. ICE defended its actions, stating that under Trump’s immigration policies, all undocumented individuals may face arrest and removal.
