American troops have faced four attacks by Iranian-backed groups in the Middle East after the U.S. conducted an airstrike on an Iranian facility in Syria. Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh reported that since October 17, there have been 46 attacks on U.S. forces, following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas.
These attacks, involving drones and rockets, occurred in Iraq and Syria. Singh warned that the U.S. is prepared to respond if attacks continue.
The U.S. airstrike in Syria targeted a major weapons facility used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, significantly damaging it. This action was in response to the downing of an MQ-9 Reaper drone by the Houthis, an Iranian-backed group. Despite increased U.S. military presence in the region and previous strikes against Iranian-backed militants, tensions remain high, with U.S. officials emphasizing a desire to contain the conflict and avoid escalation.
