In response to escalating attacks on its forces in Iraq and Syria, the U.S. is deploying approximately 900 troops to the Middle East. The deployment aims to enhance force protection and strengthen regional deterrence efforts.

A total of 21 U.S. service members have sustained minor injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, due to recent attacks by Iranian-backed militia groups.

Naval support is also being provided, with the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group being redirected to the Middle East. Additionally, the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group is currently positioned in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea to support U.S. military efforts in the region.
