San Ramon, California – Contra Costa County prosecutors have charged a man with multiple felony offenses after authorities say he rammed a Volkswagen into four police vehicles, pinning a San Ramon detective behind the open door of a patrol car during a late-night incident in December.
Court records show Anthony Parsons faces five counts of assault on a peace officer, along with charges of receiving stolen property and evading police. The case was filed in early January, and Parsons was held to answer following a recent preliminary hearing. He is currently out of custody and scheduled to be arraigned on February 9.
The charges stem from an encounter that occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight on December 29, 2025. Police said officers were surveilling a parked Infiniti believed to be connected to a series of burglaries when a Volkswagen arrived and its occupants began interacting with the vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the Volkswagen on Kyler Lane, it fled.
Authorities said officers tried to box the vehicle in, but the Volkswagen struck multiple San Ramon police cars. One of the collisions pinned Detective Patrick Espiritu behind an open patrol car door. Police said the detective was not seriously injured. The Volkswagen later stopped at an apartment complex on Ivy Hill Road, where Parsons and another man were arrested. Two additional occupants fled on foot.
Investigators reported finding ski masks, multiple key fobs, and stolen tools tied to the suspected burglaries.
