PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Prosecutors announced a major crackdown on gang-related violence, charging 21 individuals in connection with a series of shootings and related crimes across the city.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said the arrests stem from an investigation into four street groups allegedly tied to more than a dozen shootings between 2022 and 2023. Authorities said the cases involve at least 32 victims, including one homicide and numerous non-fatal shootings, along with robberies and carjackings.

According to investigators, the suspects are linked to groups identified as “The Senders,” “The Close Range Gang,” “7th Street,” and “PNB.” Charges filed include murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, and conspiracy. Officials said several suspects were already in custody on unrelated charges, while others were newly arrested.

Prosecutors credited a grand jury investigation and coordinated efforts among law enforcement agencies for the arrests. Krasner described the operation as a “major takedown” and said it reflects ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence in affected neighborhoods.

The case remains active, with at least one additional suspect not yet publicly identified as authorities continue their investigation.
