Vice President JD Vance is the leading Republican contender for the 2028 presidential election, according to a new Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll conducted by Noble Predictive Insights.
The survey of 2,565 registered voters from Oct. 2–6, 2025, found that among 978 Republicans and 178 Independents, 38% of Republicans and 41% of Independents said they would vote for Vance if the primary were held today. Donald Trump Jr. ranked second with 26% support, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 6% and Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 4%.
Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy, performed strongest among voters over 45, those without college degrees, and households earning under $100,000. He received majority support from those aged 65 and older (50%) and drew higher favorability among female voters than male—40% to 36%.
Trump Jr., meanwhile, fared better among younger voters aged 18–44 and among Hispanic and Black respondents. He was also more popular with higher-income households and urban voters, capturing 44% support from city dwellers.
Regionally, Vance led in the Midwest, South, and West, while Trump Jr. performed best in the Northeast. The rest of the Republican field, including DeSantis, Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Nikki Haley, trailed in single digits, with 15% of respondents undecided.
