LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Saturday that she is allocating another $500,000 in emergency funds to food banks across Arkansas as federal food assistance remains disrupted by ongoing court battles over the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The funds, drawn from the state’s Restricted Reserve account, will be distributed Monday through the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, which will channel them to six Feeding America–affiliated food banks in the state’s most affected regions. The beneficiaries include food banks in Little Rock, Texarkana, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Springdale, and Norfolk.

Sanders first released $500,000 on Oct. 31 to aid families facing delays in SNAP benefits amid the prolonged federal shutdown. The Trump administration’s fight over court-ordered full funding has left millions in limbo. After some states began issuing November benefits Friday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture ordered them Saturday to reverse those payments following a Supreme Court pause.

Roughly 240,000 Arkansans rely on SNAP, part of the 42 million Americans receiving food aid nationwide. Sanders encouraged residents to visit HelpArkansas.com for food bank locations and updates from the state Department of Human Services.
