Media, Pennsylvania – A member of the cultlike group known as the Zizians has been charged with murder in the 2022 shooting deaths of her parents inside their Pennsylvania home.

Michelle Zajko, who has been jailed in Maryland on unrelated charges since February 2025, now faces murder, burglary, and conspiracy charges in the deaths of Rita and Richard Zajko. Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse said Wednesday that investigators do not believe she acted alone.

Prosecutors said the couple was killed on New Year’s Eve, which was Michelle Zajko’s 30th birthday. Authorities said a neighbor’s doorbell camera captured a car arriving at the home, followed by voices and sounds suggesting a violent confrontation.

Zajko has denied involvement. In a 2025 open letter, she wrote, “I didn’t murder my parents,” and court filings suggested an alternate theory involving her father.

Authorities have linked the Zizians, a loose group of young computer scientists with radical beliefs involving artificial intelligence, veganism, animal rights, and gender identity, to six deaths across multiple states. Zajko is also accused of providing the gun used in the 2025 killing of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Maland in Vermont.
