Recent CNN/SSRS polls reveal former President Trump leading President Biden in key battleground states, Michigan and Georgia. In Michigan, Trump holds a 10-point advantage according to the new poll, with 50% of voters favoring him over Biden’s 40%. This shift is significant as Biden won Michigan in 2020. Media Bias Fact Check (MBFC), using its unique methodology, has updated Michigan’s status to Lean Trump, showing a +1.2% lead for Trump. (See Map Below)
In Georgia, another 2020 win for Biden, Trump now leads with 49% support compared to Biden’s 44% (MBFC average +2.9% Trump). Both states show substantial disapproval of Biden’s presidency, with 64% in Michigan and 61% in Georgia expressing dissatisfaction.
The polls also indicate challenges for both candidates. In Michigan and Georgia, 69% and 66% of voters, respectively, question Biden’s sharpness and stamina. Conversely, 57% of Michigan and 58% of Georgia voters are concerned about Trump’s temperament.
Other GOP candidates like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis also show strong performance against Biden. Haley leads in both states, while DeSantis trails Biden by 3 points in Georgia but leads by 7 in Michigan.
The Michigan poll surveyed 1,197 registered voters with a 3.4% margin of error, while the Georgia poll involved 1,068 voters with a 3.3% margin of error.
According to MBFC’s calculations, if the election were held today, Trump would garner 302 electoral votes to Biden’s 236.
