Trump Mobile, the new smartphone venture launched by the Trump Organization, has quietly removed references on its website suggesting its phones are “Made in the USA.”
Initially, the company promoted its T1 phone as being “designed and built in the United States,” with its site featuring bold claims such as “MADE IN THE USA.” Those phrases have since been replaced with softer language like “designed with American values in mind” and “brought to life right here in the USA.”
Experts had questioned the original claims, noting the logistical challenges of manufacturing smartphones domestically. Companies like Apple and Samsung rely on complex global supply chains centered in Asia, making full U.S. production expensive and difficult.
The Federal Trade Commission sets strict standards for “Made in USA” claims, requiring that most parts be sourced and assembled domestically.
Donald Trump Jr. has emphasized reshoring U.S. manufacturing and last week expressed optimism that Trump Mobile could eventually build all phones in the U.S.
The Trump Organization and Trump Mobile have not responded to requests for comment.
