Pakistan on Sunday condemned U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, just one day after nominating President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Islamabad praised Trump’s role in brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India but sharply criticized the U.S. attack on Iran.
“Pakistan condemns the U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities,” its Foreign Ministry said, adding that the strikes followed a “series of attacks by Israel” and violated international law. The ministry warned that further escalation would harm regional and global stability.
The irony was notable: on Saturday, Pakistan lauded Trump’s “decisive diplomatic intervention” in resolving last month’s India-Pakistan crisis. The government commended his “pragmatic diplomacy and effective peace-building” and expressed hope he could help ease tensions in the Middle East.
Trump, who has long complained about never receiving a Nobel Prize, acknowledged the moment in a Truth Social post, saying, “No, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize… but the people know.”
Despite the praise, Pakistan expressed support for Iran’s right to defend itself, signaling growing disapproval of escalating U.S. military actions in the region.
