Elon Musk is floating the idea of a new political party after his public fallout with Donald Trump over the so-called “big, beautiful bill.” Musk, a former White House adviser under Trump, posted a poll on X asking if a new party was needed—80% said yes.

“The people have spoken,” Musk wrote. “A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle.” He proposed calling it “The America Party.”

Musk blasted Trump’s bill for raising the national debt by $4 trillion, saying it undermines the government efficiency work he did with the DOGE team. Trump responded by accusing Musk of being upset over cuts to electric vehicle subsidies, saying, “He had no problem with it… until the EV mandate was cut.”

Musk went further, calling for Trump’s impeachment and claiming he was essential to the GOP’s electoral victory. Trump fired back, calling Musk “ungrateful.”

Despite the tension, some Republicans like Rep. Jimmy Patronis believe the feud will be short-lived. “Mark my words. A month from now, these guys will be hanging around again,” he said.
