Arizona state Sen. Janae Shamp (R) and the pro-Trump Patients First Coalition on Tuesday accused Gov. Katie Hobbs’s administration of overseeing $6 billion in Medicaid fraud—yet provided no evidence to support the explosive claim.

At a press conference, Shamp alleged the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) allowed up to 20,000 millionaires to enroll in Medicaid. She cited information from unnamed “vendors” and her “oversight authority” as a lawmaker but failed to present documentation. A promised report has not been released.

Gov. Hobbs’s spokesperson denounced the accusations as lies designed to justify GOP efforts to slash Medicaid by over $300 million, potentially endangering health care access for 600,000 Arizonans.

The Patients First Coalition, which began as a pro-Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign group, has since pivoted to state-level activism under its “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. Its leadership has links to election and vaccine misinformation movements.

Though AHCCCS has previously faced scrutiny over unrelated fraud, no evidence has been provided to support the new allegations.
