Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that Russian forces struck Ukrainian civilian infrastructure just hours after President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a limited ceasefire targeting energy facilities.
“Unfortunately, there have been hits, specifically on civilian infrastructure,” Zelensky posted on X, citing a drone strike on a hospital in Sumy and ongoing attacks in multiple regions. He added that the attacks prove Russia is not serious about peace and called for continued pressure on Moscow through sanctions and military support.
During their Tuesday call, Trump and Putin reached an agreement to pause strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days, but Putin refused to agree to a broader ceasefire, maintaining his demands that Ukraine renounce NATO membership and withdraw from annexed territories.
Zelensky dismissed Putin’s response as an attempt to prolong the war and called for increased Western support. Meanwhile, Trump’s administration continues to push for a broader peace agreement, with negotiations set to begin in the Middle East.
