As per an official statement by the US Central Command, an operation was carried out in Eastern Syria on July 7 which resulted in the death of an ISIS leader named Usamah al-Muhajir.
The operation was conducted using MQ-9 drones which had faced harassment by Russian aircraft for almost two hours prior to the strike.
The statement further added that this strike will significantly disrupt and weaken ISIS’s ability to carry out terrorist activities. The US Central Command has also confirmed that their efforts against ISIS in Iraq and Syria will continue until the group is completely defeated.
