Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard suggested Thursday that a 2028 presidential run is not off the table. In an interview with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show, Gabbard was asked directly whether she might again seek the presidency.
“Notwithstanding how rough that was when you ran for president the first time, have you ruled out ever doing it again?” Kelly asked, referencing Gabbard’s 2020 campaign as a Democratic candidate.
“I will never rule out any opportunity to serve my country,” Gabbard replied. The Army veteran, who served in Iraq and Kuwait, emphasized her guiding principles of service to God and country. “That is what has led me here,” she added.
Gabbard, once a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, has since distanced herself from the party and aligned with President Trump, taking on the top intelligence role in his second administration.
Her comments come amid growing speculation about who may run in 2028.
